The M21528 dual cable driver, M21355 quad reclocker, and M21524 dual cable equalizer ICs constitute a multichannel, multirate, low-power chipset for serial digital interface (SDI). Housed in quad flat no-lead (QFN) packages, the new devices help realize a Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE)compliant SDI port in a very small space.
The M21355 quad reclocker IC has automatic rate detect and a 16 x 4 crosspoint switch at the input, and it operates at data rates of 270 to 2,970 Mbits/s with an input jitter tolerance of greater than 0.6 UI. The dual cable driver can drive two unipolar pairs of 75-Ω coaxial cables, or 50-Ω equivalent loads, at 143 to 2,970 Mbits/s. The dual cable equalizer provides adaptive, low-noise, high-gain equalization for two 75-Ω coaxial cables.
