Chipsets for ESCON and Fiber Channel
Two serial data communications chipsets support IBM's ESCON specification
and the Fiber Channel standards. The GaAs-based chipsets comprise the
GA9103/GA9104 Endec, GA9101 transmitter, and GA9102 receiver. The CMOS
GA9104/03 Endec chips implement encoding/decoding functions of the ESCON
and Fiber Channel standards, respectively. In addition, they perform 16-
(ESCON) and 32-bit (Fiber Channel) CRC and parity generate/check
functions. The endec chips interface to the GA9101 and GA9102 and to
either the fabric or the device link protocol controller. The devices are
available in 28-pin SO packages (GA9101/02) and 68-pin PLCC packages
