Circular connector offers more configuration options

TE Connectivity has launched the DBAS 9 circular connector that offers more configuration options for space and military applications.

Extending the DEUTSCH DBAS family, TE Connectivity has introduced the DBAS 9 circular connector that offers more configuration options in harsh military and space applications. The circular push-pull connector combines the reliability of the DBAS 7 connector with the flexibility of standard D38999 inserts, said the company.

TE Connectivity DBAS 9 circular connectorDesigned for extremely harsh environment applications such as umbilical connectors for missiles and rockets, the DBAS 9 circular connector can withstand extreme shock and vibration and temperatures up to 200°C. It offers up to 500 mating/unmating cycles with variants available for up to 1500 cycles. They also can be used in rack-and-panel equipment.

Delivering greater design flexibility, the connector offers a variety of D38999 insert arrangement configurations (high density, hybrid signal and power layout, and high speed) and a wide range of backshells and accessories. The variety of inserts, shell types, and accessories with multiple surface-finishing options enables integrated solutions for custom designs, such as integrated backshells, fiber optic, and high-speed solutions, said TE.

The connectors are compliant with specifications for SAE/AS81703 series III, UTE  93422 model HE 311, and MIL-DTL-38999. Other features include visual and sensitive push-pull locking system for blind-mating applications, a leading clip to prevent accidental unmating, and easy locking/unlocking in the heavy-duty lanyard configuration.

If requested DBAS-9 connectors can be manufactured according to European Space Agency (ESA) procedures to improve traceability and quality insurance requested for critical space applications, said TE.
