Class D amp reduces system cost in consumer audio

The 15-W TPA3110D2 stereo, true filter-free, analog-input, Class D audio amplifier is claimed to reduce bill-of-materials (BOM) cost by as much as 50%. It uses advanced electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression technology to eliminate the need for costly inductor-based output filters. The amplifier’s SpeakerGuard protection circuitry protects speakers from damage, helping further to reduce end equipment customer returns and associated support costs.

Housed in a 28-pin TSSOP package, the part offers a THD+N performance of less than 0.1% over the full-power range at 1 kHz. It also offers differential inputs and advanced click-and-pop suppression circuitry. Flow-through pin-out facilitates hassle-free layout and optimizes thermal performance with high-voltage pins on one side and input and control pins on the other.

Similar to the TPA3110D2 are the TPA3111D1 and TPA3112D1 which are 10-W and 25-W mono amplifiers, respectively, and the TPA3113D2 which is a 6-W stereo amplifier. (Ea/1,000: TPA3110D2, $1.45; TPA3111D1, $0.90, TPA3112D1, $1.15; TPA3113D2, $0.85 — TPA3110D2, available now; TPA3111D1/3112D1/3113D2, late 3rd qtr.)
