The cloud-based MPLAB Xpress integrated development environment is an easy way to design using PIC microcontrollers. The tool requires no downloads, sign-in, or setup, and offers a library of validated code examples, interface to Code Configurator 3.0 for graphical MCU peripheral setup and automatic code generation, MPLAB XC compilers, support for programmer and debugger hardware, and 10 Gbytes of secure online storage with an account.
The IDE uses any USB-enabled PC to connect to tools such as the MPLAB Xpress Evaluation Board, which features an integrated programmer, a PIC16F18855 MCU, and a mikroBUS header for system expansion. The IDE supports the cost-effective Curiosity Development Board and can also be used with the popular PICkit 3 in-circuit debugger and programmer.
