The VL5510 high-dynamic-range CMOS sensor is designed to provide vision-based driver assistance, automatically detecting dangers and giving support in hazardous situations. It works with the company’s dedicated vision-processor family.

The 1024 x 512-pixel sensor’s specifications include 5.6 x 5.6-µm pixels, 7.14-V/lux sensitivity, 33-A/pixel dark current at 25°C, and high quantum efficiency at near IR. Features include fully programmable output image size, frame rate to 34 fps, parallel or serial interface (RAW 8/10/12 format), embedded histograms, and anti-dark-sun and pixel-defect correction algorithms. (Bare die, $20 ea / 10,000 — samples available now, prod qty early 2009.)
