Comm processor yields 4x performance boost

The XLP 200 series communications processor has one or two superscalar, quad-issue, processing engines with out-of-order execution. The 28-nm device has a tri-level cache subsystem and yields up to 3.3-Gbit/s security acceleration and up to 2.5-Gbit/s layer-7 deep packet inspection capability.

Comm processor yields 4x performance boost

With up to 4x the processing power of the previous generation chip, the XLP 200 meets the demands of enterprise, service provider 4G/LTE, cloud computing, and software defined networking environments. The 28-nm IC is said to take 60% less power than some compeditive chips and features eight GbE and two 10-GbE ports, 4×1/2×2/1×4 PCIe interfaces, and a 72-bit DDR3 interface with ECC.
