The APP2200 advanced communication processor family targets multiservice business gateways for small or medium businesses and remote branch offices. The devices enable converged voice and data functions such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Virtual Private Networks (VPN), state-full inspection firewalls, and Gigabit Ethernet LAN switches.
The chips have 300 to 3,000-Mbit/s bandwidth, a deterministic classifier, a traffic manager, a dual-core ARM11 control processor, a security engine, and a PCI 2.2 32-bit 33-MHz host interface. They take only 6 to 8 W typ. and have four 10/100/1000 Ethernet MACs and up to 16 10/100 MACs providing SMII, GMII, and SGMII interfaces, plus ATM, and ports for up to eight channels of voice processing.
