TDK Corp. has added the ACT1210E Series to its common-mode filter portfolio. Designed for automotive Ethernet communication 10BASE-T1S, new ACT1210E-131-2P-TL00 filter lowers the line-to-line capacitance by approximately 30% compared to conventional products.
Key features include common mode inductance of 130 µH at 100 kHz and rated current of 70 mA. The filter device is housed in a 3.2 × 2.5 × 2.5-mm package. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C.
TDK claims the ACT1210E is the industry’s first to achieve Class IV parasitic capacitance in the OPEN Alliance EMC test specification for common-mode chokes, with the lowest parasitic capacitance.
“The communication circuit of 10BASE-T1S has PHY, ESD suppression devices and other electronic components in addition to common mode filters, each of which has its own capacitance,” TDK said. “As total capacity increases so does signal wave shape turbulence, which leads to disruptions in normal telecommunications. For this reason, engineers need to select components geared to low capacitance.”
TDK said the ACT1210E uses the company’s proprietary design structure and optimized materials to reduce the impact of signal distortions caused by capacitance to lower common mode noise and achieve high S-parameters.
The ACT1210E common-mode filter is compliant with AEC-Q200 Rev. D. The device is in mass production.
