A 2-A model added to the V78XX switching regulator series is an alternative to linear regulators. The series does not require a heat sink and has efficiencies up to 92% in an 11.50 x 9.00 x 17.50-mm SIP package.
The switching regulators are pin compatible with industry-standard LM78XX linear regulators and come in both straight and right-angle pin configurations. The devices have an input range from 4.75 to 18 Vdc and regulated output voltages of 2.5, 3.3, 5, and 6.5 Vdc. They have an operating temperature range from –40° to 85°C at 100% load.
