Andrew Bodrov with his trophy
Last March, Electronic Products praised Andrew Bodrov’s wondrously innovative method of bringing Mars into peoples' living rooms. The Estonian panoramic photographer developed a way for users to virtually experience standing on the surface of Mars by the Curiosity rover. The invention used photos that were taken by the rover’s two MastCams. The online 360º display enables viewers to see Mars as if they were actually on the Red Planet. For full effect, enter full-screen mode to be totally enveloped in Mars’ surroundings. Zoom in to have a more detailed look of the 4-billion-pixel panorama shot to fully see what the Martian ground looks like. How cool is that?!?

Since this innovation was truly commendable, Electronic Products definitely had to honor Bodrov with an Inspiration Award. This way of “travel” allows users to virtually navigate into space, viewing Mars’ sights that people would not likely see in their lifetime. Bodrov’s 360º view of Mars is the first of its kind, hence its high notability.
Bodrov was thrilled when he was told of his accolade from EP. We sent the Inspiration Award trophy via mail to his main base in Estonia. As it went through customs, he informed us,
“Last Friday got call from UPS:
– We received parcel for you from USA, do you know what's inside?
– Diploma.
– Diploma? Are you sure?
– M-m-m not.
– Can we open parcel to check?
– Sure!
Today the courier delivered this parcel to our office.”
He gleefully accepted the award, and sent us a photo posing proudly with the Inspiration Award trophy.
Kudos to you, Andrew Bodrov, on winning an Inspiration Award. Keep on creating extraordinary inventions that aspire to inspire us all.
