Connector design reduces space requirements by 35%

J-shaped SMT tail, stack heights down to 0.90 mm, and 0.40-mm pitch suits thin board-to-board applications

The J-Lead SlimStack board-to-board connectors feature a J-shaped SMT tail that the company claims provides a 35% space savings compared with standard gull-wing-style tails. Offered in stack heights of 0.90, 1.30, 1.50, and 1.70 mm and in a 0.40-mm pitch, the connectors suit applications requiring a thin design such as cell phones, digital video and still cameras, MP3 players, and handheld GPS systems.

Other features include a bottom-mold design, which allows circuits to be traced on the underside of the connector. Longer wipe lengths and gold-plated contacts provide high contact reliability and good signal integrity.

The connector is available with various locking features that provide secure mating retention and a tactile click feeling during mating. The connector’s short, straight-signal path is compatible with high-speed design specifications. (Per mated line, $0.035 to $0.05—available now.)
