Converter has digitally controlled outputs

The SC195 is a 500-mA synchronous step-down (buck) regulator that targets low-voltage point-of-load regulation, as well as mobile-device applications. The converter uses four digital programming pins to eliminate external feedback components to provide 15 pin-programmable output voltages from 0.8 to 3.3 V.

The 1.5 x 1.5-mm buck converter operates from 2.9 to 5.5-V inputs. The 3.5-MHz PWM operation balances the efficiency and transient response with three external components. The device has a 0.1-µA typ shutdown mode and has an automatic PSAVE operation that reduces quiescent current to 38 µA typ at light loads. In applications such as graphics or other processors where voltage levels change on the fly, the programming pins can be driven from the host controller to dynamically position the output voltage level. It has overvoltage and overtemperature protection, foldback current limit, short-circuit protection, undervoltage lockout, and floating programming pin protection. ($0.69 ea/3,000 — available now.)
