Cortex-A17 IP added to ARM core arsenal

The ARM Cortex-A17 processor IP is said to provide better efficiency and 60% more performance than the Cortex-A9. The CPU features an 11+ stage pipeline and out-of-order execution.

The processor core uses Thumb-2 technology for up to a 30% instruction memory size reduction and has a high-performance FPU with hardware support for half-, single- and double-precision floating point arithmetic. It has a configurable L2 Cache controller providing low latency access to up to 8 Mbits of memor and . Arm also added the Mali-T720 GPU and Mali-V500 video processor multimedia IP targeting mid-range devices.
