Cortex-A8 based CPU targets eReaders

The i.MX508 eReader applications processor integrates an 800-MHz Cortex-A8 CPU and a display controller, certified by to drive current and next-generation E Ink panels. The chip also has an LCD controller to simultaneously drive small screens and USB 2.0 OTG and USB 2.0 host controllers with PHYs.

The device supports dynamic voltage and frequency scaling and fast memory accesses due to 256 Kbytes of L2 cache and a 64-bit AXI bus. It has an advanced pixel-processing pipeline that performs common imaging algorithms like color space conversion and an integrated NEON DSP and OpenVG 2-D graphics accelerator.
