The SAM4SD32CA is said to be the industry’s first Cortex-M4 based microcontroller with 2 Mbytes of flash. The chip offers power consumption of just 200uA/MHz in active mode when running at 120 MHz and features cache memory for accelerated code execution out of flash.
The chip has code protection features and 160 Kbyes of SRAM and dual-bank flash for safe in-field firmware upgrades. The IC will be available in a new VFBGA100 7 x 7 mm package, along with a LQFP100. It has dual USB full speed ports, dual quadrature decoder channels, and a 16 channel 12-bit A/D converter. ($7.94 ea/1000 – samples available now.)
