Cost-effective SSDs store up to 240 Gbytes

MLC flash-based drives offer an excellent long-term endurance specification

The SSD C25-G3 and SSD C18-G3 solid-state disk drives come in standard 2.5- and 1.8-in. form factors with capacities of 60, 120, and 240 Gbytes. They feature a SATA-II interface with sequential read/write performance of 200 and 140 Mbytes/s, respectively.

The drives use multilevel cell (MLC) 43-nm All Bit Line NAND flash and are said to provide a long-term data endurance of 160 Tbytes written (for the 240-Gbyte version), sufficient for over 100 years of typical usage. Their performance is enhanced by an advanced control algorithm called ExtremeFFS. The SSD C18-G3 will be available later in the year.
