Cowtown welcomes APEC 2014

The Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exhibition (APEC) is the premier event for power professionals that focuses on the practical and applied aspects of the power electronics business. Once again the exposition expects a record number of exhibitors (221) and booths (337). The 544 accepted papers were selected from entrants coming from 38 countries, submitted by a variety of experts from industry and academia.

Fort Worth Convention Center holds APEC 2014

The six plenary session speakers will talk about power electronics in emerging applications, critical power solutions, high-efficiency power conversion, system reliability and efficiency, transforming energy management, and 3D packaging of power products. The rap sessions this year will focus on smart infrastructures and wide-bandgap materials. There will be 18 educational seminars covering wide-bandgap devices, fundamentals, emerging technologies, design, control and modeling, and components. There will also be 35 technical papers, 21 dialog sessions, and 13 industry sessions.

This is not just a designer’s conference. The conference has something of interest for anyone involved in power electronics including:
• Equipment OEMs who use power supplies and dc/dc converters in their equipment
• Designers of power supplies, dc/dc converters, motor drives, uninterruptable power supplies, inverters and any other power electronic circuits, equipment and systems.
• Manufacturers and suppliers of components and assemblies used in power electronics
• Manufacturing, quality, and test engineers involved with power electronics equipment
• Marketing, sales and anyone involved in the business of power electronic
• Compliance engineers testing and qualifying power electronics equipment or equipment that uses power electronics

The conference also puts on a fun social event that will be held at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys football team. The social will offer interactive field games, go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium, and have the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders perform one of their routines for guests.
