CPLDs feature low power, space, cost

Aiming at portable applications, MAX IIZ CPLDs combine nonvolatility and instant-on capability with an innovative lookup table logic structure. The devices are available in densities of 240 and 570 logic elements, have a 1.8-V core voltage, and feature current draw at 50 MHz of 8.9 mA, with a typical standby current of 29 µA.

The ICs have up to six times the density and three times the I/Os, compared to competing traditional macrocell-based CPLDs. They come in MBGA packages as small as 5 x 5 mm, and in an 11 x 11-mm 256-pin package with up to 160 I/Os. (From $1.25 ea/high volume—available now.)
