The ATSHA204 cryptographic authentication device includes a 4.5-Kbit EEPROM and a hardware SHA-256 accelerator. The low-power device operates from 2.0 to 5.5 V from –40° to 85°C and has an optional temperature sensor.
The IC’s enhanced security features to protect the EEPROM content include an active metal shield, internal memory encryption, secure test modes, glitch protection, and voltage-tamper detection. The chip’s active supply current is 1 mA with a 3.3-V supply. The chip comes in SOT-3, SOIC-8, UDFN-8, and TSSOP-8 packages with either a single-wire or I2 C interface.
