CUI Devices’ Interconnect Group has added the USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type C models to its USB connector line for consumer and portable electronics applications. With high data transfer speeds up to 20 Gbits/s, the UJ32 family is a more cost-effective option for designs that do not require the full capabilities of the USB4 40 Gbits/s standard, said the company.

The UJ32 USB connectors deliver power capabilities up to 100 W with 20-V voltage ratings. They also offer 5-A current ratings for faster power charging. The USB Type C connectors address future design compliance with the EU set to make USB Type C the unified charger for mobile devices in 2024 and laptops in 2026, said CUI Devices.
The USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type C connectors are housed in surface-mount or mid-mount SMT packages with horizontal or vertical orientations. They feature gold-flash contacts and an operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C. These USB Type C receptacles are reflow solder compatible with high reliability ratings up to 10,000 mating cycles. The UJ32-C-H-G-SMT-TR-68 also provides an IP68 rating for harsh-environment applications.
Available now, prices for the UJ32 models start at $1.43 each at 250 pieces through the company’s distribution network. Lead time is from stock to six to eight weeks.
