CV switcher beats Energy Star demands

The LNK626PG is a constant-voltage (CV) integrated switcher IC with primary-side control. It consumes <70 mW in no-load mode and is 10% better than Energy Star 2.0 specifications for external power supplies across the entire load range. The device targets applications requiring ±5% voltage accuracy, including ac/dc adapters up to 10 W, auxiliary power supplies for appliances up to 17 W, and multiple-output supplies for consumer products.

The switcher IC eliminates all secondary-side CV and control-loop compensation circuitry. It combines a 700–V power MOSFET, on/off control state machine, self-biasing circuit, frequency jittering, cycle-by-cycle current limit, and hysteretic thermal shutdown circuitry.
