DACs integrate complex waveform generation function
The AD9106 quad-channel, 12-bit, and the AD9102 single-channel, 14-bit, 180-Msamples/s waveform generators integrate on-chip SRAM and DDS for complex waveform generation. The parts are used in applications such as ultrasound transducer excitation, medical instrumentation, portable instrumentation, signal generators and arbitrary waveform generators.
The on-chip DDS operates up to 180 MHz with a 24-bit tuning word, allowing 10.8-Hz/LSB frequency resolution and providing a single frequency output for all DACs and independent programmable phase-shift outputs for each DAC. Features include on-chip 4,096-word pattern memory, sleep mode power of less than 5 mW at 3.3 V, and SFDR to Nyquist of 86 dBc at 1 MHz output and 85 dBc at 10 MHz output.
In addition supply voltage is from 1.8 to 3.3 V and phase noise is –140 dBc/Hz at 1-kHz offset, 180 MSPS, 8 mA. Both are housed in 32-lead 5 x 5 mm LFCSP packages and offer differential current outputs of 8 mA max at 3.3 V. (ea/1,000, AD9106, ea/$15; AD9102, ea/ $12.35 — available now)
