Data acquisition tool is portable, versatile
The 2635A Hydra Data Bucket data acquisition instrument is a versatile,
portable data-acquisition tool that is well suited for PC-based data
acquisition applications. It can be conveniently carried to a measurement
or monitoring location where it gathers and stores data unattended. Using
the 2635A's removable memory card, data is uploaded to a PC for analysis
using one of several spreadsheet packages for analysis, graphics, and
report generation. The 2635's flexibility is further enhanced by being
able to directly measure up to 21 inputs of thermocouples, ac/dc voltage,
RTD's, resistance, and frequency without external signal conditioning. A
2-Mbyte memory card will store approximately 300,000 to 400,000 readings.
For applications where larger amounts of data are acquired, users may swap
memory cards without interrupting Data Bucket's scanning routine or losing
data. The manufacturer provides a software utility (“pruning and
grafting”) that facilitates combining data from multiple memory cards into
a single file. A removable universal input module enable fast, convenient
setup and reconfiguration of the Data Bucket. Any combination of up to 20
channels of dc voltage, ac voltage, thermocouple, RTD, resistance, and
frequency are directly connected to the input module without the need for
additional signal conditioning. Additional input modules may be utilized
for multisite applications, enabling field wiring to remain intact. A
software starter package comes with the 2635A. This package supports the use
of a single 2635A connected to a PC via the RS-232-C interface. An
optional data logger software package allows the user to set up the
2635A's channels and functions using the PC. (with 256-Kbyte RAM card, $3,
