Datalogger records occupancy, lighting

The HOBO UX90-005x and -006x Occupancy/Light Loggers track building light use versus occupancy, collecting time-stamped data to pinpoint areas in a building that could benefit from occupancy sensors and other energy-savings initiatives. Units can detect light levels greater than 65 lux and occupancy at 5 m (-005x) or 12 m (-006x) maximum.

The matchbox-sized (1.44 x 3.34 x 0.93 or 1.13-in.) dataloggers have start/stop pushbuttons and a built-in LCD display to visually confirm operation and signal strength (to ensures proper logger placement). Memory capacity of 84,650 or 346,795 readings enables longer deployments with fewer site visits, and battery life is one year in typical applications.

Using the included HOBOware software, collected data can be viewed in graph form and printed out or exported to Microsoft Excel for more detailed analysis over a USB 2.0 PC interface. The software also reduces deployment time by letting users batch-configure and readout hundreds of loggers. Mounting options include a rare earth magnet, strap, and command strip. (From $199 ea / 1 to 9 units — available now.)
