DaVinci video processor boosts performance

The TMS320DM368 video processor supports full HD 1080p H.264 encoding at 30 fps, benefiting from a 40% boost in ARM ARM926 CPU performance over the previous version. The IC has three DACs for HD analog video output and two video image co-processors.

The BGA338-packaged IC includes 16-Kbyte instruction and 8-Kbyte data caches, and EMAC, USB 2.0 OTG, SPI, UART, and DDR2/NAND interfaces. It also features a HW face detect engine, a resize engine from 1/16x to 8x, an AFE, enhanced DMA, four 64-bit general-purpose timers, and optional 40° to 85°C temperature versions.
