Flex Power Modules has released the PUC-D2BG series of through-hole 2-W DC/DC converters in an industry-standard SIP-7 package, targeting gate-drive power applications. This series features reinforced insulation and ultra-low isolation capacitance.
The PUC-D2BG series includes nominal 12-V, 15-V, and 24-V inputs and a selection of dual, unregulated outputs are available. They are suited for asymmetrical positive and negative gate-drive voltages in a variety of semiconductor switches, including IGBTs, GaN, silicon, and silicon-carbide MOSFETs.
In addition, the devices are suited for isolated ‘high-side’ gate-drive power and feature low isolation capacitance of less than 6 pF. Unlike many similar products, the PUC-D2BG series features 6-kVDC isolation with reinforced insulation to a 250 VAC working voltage, with safety certification to IEC/EN/UL 62368-1, said Flex Power Modules.
Other key specs include an operating temperature from -40°C to 100°C ambient with derating, and full power is available to 85°C in convection cooled environments. The DC/DC converters also offer efficiency levels up to 81%, no minimum load requirements, and continuous output short-circuit protection. The product series will be available in OEM quantities at the end of March 2022.
The company also recently expanded its PKE series of through-hole, encapsulated, board-mounted DC/DC converters with the launch of 30-W dual-output variants: the PKE532x and PKE332x series. These variants with higher powered dual outputs target high reliability applications, including industrial and communication electronics, instrumentation devices, and mobile and battery-operated systems.
