The MPEG-H TV is the first next-generation audio system used for over-the-air TV broadcasting. It’s part of the ATSC 3.0 standard as well as the latest version of the DVB Audio Video coding specification.

Realtek has added the MPEG-H TV Audio System decoding capabilities to its latest solution for television sets and set-top boxes. First samples of Realtek’s RTD2871 UHD TV system solution were expected to be available by the end of 2017.

It’s worth noting that the MPEG-H TV Audio System has already been launched in Korea as UHD TV in May 2017. And the Korean broadcasters and TV manufacturers are now implementing the MPEG-H TV Audio System.

The MPEG-H TV Audio System helps create a cost-efficient way of offering a richer sound experience. It provides broadcasting and streaming services with immersive sound for a natural listening experience and the ability to personalize the audio mix.

In short, the MPEG-H TV Audio System provides the ability to personalize the audio mix at home and on the go. And it tailors playback in a way that sounds much better on any device and in any environment.
