Demodulator-decoder targets set-top boxes

The STi7167 single-chip demodulator/decoder for Internet-TV, and terrestrial or cable set-top boxes enables entry-level “zapper” boxes using fewer components and saving bill-of-material/assembly costs. The IC includes an H.264/MPEG 2 decoder and DVB-C and DVB-T demodulators and can decode HD content.

The 27 x 27-mm BGA-packaged chip features standby power of less than 200 mW and dual USB hosts, Ethernet MAC/MII/RMII, PCI, and optional e-SATA interfaces. It has a 450-MHz ST40 applications processor and advanced multichannel audio decoding (MPEG 1, 2, MP3, DD/DD+, AAC/AAC+, WMA9/WMA9Pro). ($15 ea/10,000 — available now.)
