Design East is better than ever

This year’s Design East will be held September 17-20, 2012 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston MA. It combines four-days of assembled training and education, hands-on learning, and hundreds of hot components and devices. Design East is comprised of 5 distinct Summits: ESC Boston, Android Summit, DesignMED, LED Summit, and Sensors — bringing over 120 sessions across 21 tracks.

This years keynote speakers include Mike Walsh, Author of FUTURETAINMENT (Sept. 18 from 9:30-10:30 am in Ballroom B, Level 3), and Rosalind Picard, Director of Affective Computing Research at MIT Media Lab (Sept. 19 from 9:30-10:30am in Ballroom B, Level 3).

Some features of the DESIGN East Theater Sessions include the X PRIZE panel discussion, Google Nexus 7 teardown, Gadget Freak DIY Lab, The Internet of Things and “Will Embedded Programming be Dead in 2030?” Debate.

There will be over 30 FREE Technical Training Sessions that will be presented by industry heavyweights (Intel, Vicor, Qualcomm, Microchip, STMicroelectronics, and NXP Semiconductors) with in-depth hands-on solutions. A few highlights here include the “Touch Sense and Graphics Solutions” training session presented by Microchip at their booth (#400) on Sept 18 at 11am-12pm and on Sept 19 from 2-3pm and the “STM32 Cortex™-M4 Hands-On Workshop” presented from STMicroelectronics on Sept 18 from 2:00-4:10 pm in room #402.

Another highlight includes the Android Certificate Program – a series of courses, beginning with self-paced web study and culminating with the Embedded Android Workshop. It promises to take embedded systems developers from zero to installing and using Android on real embedded hardware. Students who complete all courses in the curriculum earn a certificate as evidence of their work.

And dont forget to pick up your Tech Tote during September 18, 2012 (200 bags at 10:30am and 200 bags at 3:00pm) and on September 19, (200 bags at 10:30am and 200 bags at 3:00pm). The official 2012 Tech Tote will be distributed at the Tech Tote Booth (#321) on the Expo Floor. So far items include a Pen from MathWorks, a USB Bracelet from Microchip, an exclusive drawing for $2500 off pcb parts and assembly labor from Screaming Circuit, free STM32 Discovery Kit from STMicroelectronics, and interchangeable screwdriver & valuable coupon from Symmetry Electronics.
