Design kit streamlines PoE design

Bourns’ PoE-LAB1 design kit features 32 products to help designers implement power/data delivery and protection in PoE applications.

Bourns, Inc. has released its POE-LAB1 Design Kit that streamlines power and data delivery as well as protection in Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. The PoE kit contains 32 advanced components, providing a wide range of semiconductor and magnetics options to PoE designers. They support high-speed Ethernet lines (up to 10 GbE) with PoE++ (Type 4) capabilities.

A first for Bourns, this kit takes a synergistic approach that gives designers a range of options by including a high number of products in one kit for their PoE designs, which meet a variety of power/data delivery and protection requirements.

Designers can evaluate how the use of multiple product combinations can be used to address a variety of PoE specifications. Products include Ethernet transformers, DC/DC conversion transformers, common mode chokes, inductors, ferrite beads, single and bridge Schottky rectifier diodes, TBU and TCS high-speed protectors, diode arrays and TVS diodes.

One example is Bourns’ Model PLN0xx-ED21 Series of planar transformers, introduced in the past year, for high-frequency and compact power conversion application requirements. These forward converter transformers are designed to deliver high volumetric power density, low loss and high-efficiency in a compact, low-height profile design. In addition to PoE applications, they are suited for power conversion solutions for high-density industrial power systems, low-profile switched-mode power supplies, LED lighting applications and battery management systems.

The Bourns PoE-LAB Design Kit is currently available. All devices in the kit are RoHS compliant.
