Avnet, Inc. has launched the MaaXBoard OSM93 development kit, the latest addition to its MaaxBoard series of single-board computers (SBCs) based on the i.MX 8 and i.MX 9 series of application processors from NXP Semiconductors. Target applications for the edge-AI SBC include building control and automation, electric-vehicle charging, industrial human machine interface and industrial gateways.
The MaaXBoard OSM93, featuring the i.MX93 applications processor, is designed around a production-ready, size-S Open Standard Module (OSM) solder-down module. The MaaXBoard can be used as a prototyping and development platform for the OSM, or as a production-ready SBC to reduce hardware development time.
The OSM module includes the NXP i.MX 93 applications processor, with dual Arm Cortex-A55 cores, an Arm Cortex-M33 core and an Arm Ethos-U65 NPU. Memory includes 2-GB LPDDR4 SDRAM, 16-GB eMMC 5.1 Flash and 16-MB QSPI NOR Flash.
The OSM is soldered onto the main SBC carrier board with additional interfaces for three USB 2.0 ports, dual 1-Gbits/s Ethernet, MIPI-DSI, MIPI-CSI and a standard 40-pin header with UART, SPI, I2C, I2S, and GPIO connections. The carrier also includes interfaces for JTAG, debug, ADC, CAN-FD, SAI digital audio, two PDM microphones and an M.2 connector that can support connection to Wi-Fi/BT.802.15.4 wireless modules.
The MaaXBoard OSM93 development kit includes a downloadable Yocto-based board support package (BSP) and example designs. Optional accessories are available for the MaaXBoard family, including a 7-inch MIPI-DSI LCD touch panel and a 5-V/3-A (USB-C connector) power supply. The MaaXBoard OSM93 (AES-MAAXB-OSM93-DK-G) and the i.MX 93 OSM (OSM-SF-IMX93) will be available in the second quarter of 2024.
Avnet Embedded will showcase the board at Embedded World 2024, April 9-11, hall 1-510. A range of new development boards focused on edge-AI applications will also be on display.
