Device configures as boost or inverting converter

The LT8580 is a current mode, fixed frequency step-up dc/dc converter with an internal 1 A, 65 V switch. It can be configured as either a boost, SEPIC or an inverting converter. The device operates from an input voltage range from 2.55 V to 40 V, making it suitable for applications with input sources ranging from a single-cell Li-ion to automotive inputs.

The switching frequency of the dc/dc converter can be programmed, via a single resistor or synchronized to an external clock, between 200 kHz and 1.5 MHz. It’s available in a a 3 x 3-mm DFN or MSOP-8E package. The VCESAT switch features 86% efficiency. The device offers undervoltage lockout that is user adjustable and provides external synchronization capability, internal soft-start, and thermal shutdown protection.
