In the past few years there’s been an explosion of wearable devices that can monitor your activities and health, but now there’s a device that claims to be able to do it all. The new biometric earpiece called SensoTRACK is able to measure respiration and heart rates, detect oxygen saturation in your body, and provide an almost real-time blood pressure reading. It can count your steps and the calories you burn; measure your speed and activity levels during exercise; and track your weight, BMI, blood sugar level; and even your emotional state.
According to SensoTRACK’s creators, because the device is worn in your ear, it’s more accurate than any kind of wrist gadget, since it’s worn near the temporal artery. As most wearables do, it connects to an Android or iOS app, or to a desktop portal, where you can see all of your stats, workout history, goals, and routes taken. Better yet, if you happen to be in an area without Internet access, you can save up to a week’s worth of data on its onboard storage.
The sophisticated minicomputer got its start on Kickstarter and already has a final prototype, and now it’s just a matter of raising enough money to fund its production. It’s encased in a hypoallergenic, medical-grade plastic and comes with silicone ear-loops of three different sizes to ensure comfort and stability on the ear.
In order to ship the device to its backers by April 2015, the company hopes to raise a whopping $250,000. This will be used to finance the upfront working capital, creation of the molds, and configuration of the microchip assembly line. If the Kickstarter campaign surpasses the initial funding goal, the Sensogram Technologies team plans to add activity detection functionalities to SensoTRACK as well as improved overall sensor accuracy.
