Dig pots offer low current consumption

The 7-bit MCP4017/8/9 family of digital potentiometers with volatile memory feature a static current consumption of 2.5 μA over 40 to 125°C. Unlike mechanical pots, the devices can be controlled digitally, through an I2 C interface.

Features include a VDD operating range from 1.8 to 5.5 V, wiper resistance of 100 Ω typ, and resistance options of 5.0, 10.0, 50.0, and 100.0 kΩ typ. The MCP4017 and MCP4019 devices are available in 5-pin SC-70 packages, with the MCP4018 available in a 6-pin SC-70 package. ($0.37 ea/10,000 — available now.)
