DigiPyro PYD 1500 Series from Excelitas Technologies addresses growing demand for low-power motion detection devices

Low-power motion detectors improve sensing range and sensitivity at reduced supply voltage

The low-power DigiPyro PYD 1500 Series of battery-operated motion detectors from Excelitas Technologies Corp. improves detection range and sensitivity at only 1.8 V to address the growing demand for enhanced performance and functionality with reduced supply voltage requirements.

Designed for applications such as IP cameras and wireless intrusion alarms, PYD 1588 operates at 1.8 V up to 3.3 V with increased effective sensing range and faster activation. Selectable band-pass function and improved selectable pulse count enable fulfillment of specific customer design requirements. The “Gen2” DigiPyro PYD 1500 Series is an upgrade from the PYD 1600 Series that was introduced with great success in 2015.

The series features wake-up/sleep modes to promote power savings and extend service life, making it suitable for prolonged battery-operated motion detection. Continuous motion sensing, signal processing, and event/motion detection is handled on board by the Low-Power DigiPyro, while the hosting microcontroller can be set into a power-saving mode. Only upon detection of motion, per its programmed settings, does the Low-Power DigiPyro signal the microcontroller to wake up.
