Digital audio SoCs enable stylish TVs

Suited for home-entertainment applications such as stylish new flat-panel TV designs, the STA381BW and STA381BWS Sound Terminal digital-audio system-on-chip ICs integrate a headphone driver, line-driver output, and an independent DAC. The integrated DAC provides an extra analog output that can be connected to the headphone input or to an external circuit, and uses the company’s F3X technology to simplify external filtering.

In addition the headphone driver and industry-standard 2-Vpp line out require no dc blocking capacitors.The STA381BW and STA381BWS can deliver up to 15-W output power (24 V, 8-Ω load), maintaining the IC’s temperature at 55.4°C. Housed in the 48-pin VQFN package, they meet product safety criteria according to UL or CE specs.
