Digital PMUs feature real-time control

The AS19xx Energy$ense family of multi-output digital dc/dc power management unit (DPMU) ICs feature real-time power measurements, power-subsystem health monitoring, 94% peak efficiency, and <10-µA standby current. It provides digital power control (via I2C) for selecting power operating modes, fast transient-handling capability for implementing adaptive power profiles, built-in spread-spectrum clocking for EMI management, and built-in PWM-dimming for LED-backlight displays.

The digital power management units address the need for a total energy management in modern platforms. The products address the needs of system designers by offering 10 pin-compatible products that offer a wide input voltage range of 3 to 27 V, load range of 0.5 to 10 A, switching frequency from 100 kHz to 2 MHz, and internal spread-spectrum clocking with external synchronization input. The 10 devices in the series offer combinations of synchronous buck, boost and LED-drive converter configurations. It targets 4G LTE residential gateways and femtocells, tablets and large display-oriented consumer devices, ultra-books, e-books, digital photo frames, NAS and media hubs, Internet-TV and IPTV set-top boxes, automotive infotainment systems, solid-state lighting, and communication equipment with cluster-power or intermediate bus architectures. (From $1.46 ea/3,000 — available now.)
