The XRP7724 is a digital pulse width modulated (DPWM) four-output buck controller. It targets portable computing and uses a patented technology that allows transient performance equivalent to the fastest comparator-based analog technologies. The controller provides three power-switch I/Os for driving load disconnect MOSFETs. The device suits next generation FPGAs and processors using energy management voltage control and provides 2.5-mV programmable output voltage resolution. Each output voltage can be programmed from 0.6 to 5.1 V without the need of external components.
The digital PWM features a switching frequency from 100 kHz to 1.2 MHz. The programmable switching frequency allows for optimization of efficiency and component size. It has an SMBus-compliant I2 C interface to program the device and facilitate communication with the host for fault reporting and handling, monitoring, voltage repositioning, and setting other programmable features.
