Digital PWM integrates power transistor

The iW1810 ac/dc digital pulse-width modulator IC integrates an 800-V bipolar power transistor as well as numerous features to save external components. The IC targets the industrial market; protects offline power supplies for household appliances, motor control, and smart meters from high-line surge voltage; maintains 5% output voltage regulation; and consumes <100 mW in standby mode.

The PWM IC has a 64-kHz switching frequency allowing designers to fit up to 3-W power supplies into 25 x 25 x 15-mm form factors using 21 components. It features digital feedback and control allowing >+2% output voltage regulation in typical isolated power supply designs with primary-side regulation. It includes overvoltage, short-circuit, and current-sense-resistor short-circuit protection. ($0.34 ea/10,000 — available now.)
