The MAX2172 digital radio tuner for FM and digital audio broadcast (DAB) signals, with a high sensitivity for the FM, VHF, and L-band frequency ranges, integrates LNAs, mixers, an IF filter, and a fully synthesized local oscillator. Additionally, the IC integrates a front-end tracking filter to eliminate interference between the UHF, VHF, and FM bands.
The part has an onchip temperature sensor and an RSSI function, that provides ±2-dB accuracy and outputs the measured level in digital form through the I2 C bus. In addition, it features an FM sensitivity of –111 dBm typ, a current draw of 61 mA typ from a 3-V supply.
