The MAX9860 mono audio codec with dual ADC paths and programmable digital voice filters employs a flexible clocking scheme that uses common system-clock frequencies ranging from 10 to 60 MHz, thereby eliminating the need for an external PLL and multiple crystal oscillators. The device is ideal for voice headsets, digital cameras, cell phones, portable recorders, VoIP telephones, and conference phones.
The dual microphone inputs each include a low-noise preamplifier, programmable gain amplifier with AGC, and sigma-delta ADC, thus supporting a voice input and providing a path for echo-noise cancellation. An elliptical digital filter notches the 217-Hz (GSM) frequency for 8- and 16-kHz sampling rates.
