Direct quadrature modulator offers best-in-class linearity performance
Housed in a 24-lead QFN package, the LTC5598 direct quadrature modulator is claimed by the company to offer best-in-class 27.7-dBm OIP3 and 74-dBm OIP2 performance. The part operates from a single 5-V supply and, with a quiescent current of 168 mA, is claimed to consume 20% less power than other comparable modulators.
In addition, the device operates from 5 MHz to 1.6 GHz, suiting it for 13.56-MHz RFID and contactless readers, telemetry, point-to-point broadband microwave links, 450- and 700-MHz LTE base station transmitters, and 800-MHz GSM / 900-MHz EDGE base station transmitters. The device also offers a −160-dBm/Hz noise floor at a 5-dBm output level, a 50.4-dBc image rejection, and a carrier leakage of 55 dBm.
The LTC5598 provides a power-down feature with turn-on and turn-off time of 75 and 10 ns, respectively, supporting TDD (time division duplex) transmitters. (From $5.19 ea/1,000 available now.)
