DSP offers 30% higher performance, lower price

Available at 1.2- and 1-GHz speeds, the C6457 DSP delivers up to 30% higher performance at one-third the cost of current-version single-core DSPs. The IC yields 9,600 (16-bit) MMACS peak performance enabled by 2 Mbytes of L2 memory and faster 32-bit DDR2 external memory interface (667 MHz).

The IC features a Serial RapidIO interface, a Gigabit Ethernet MAC/SerDes, two Turbo-Decoder coprocessors, and one Viterbi coprocessor. The 23 x 23-mm BGA-packaged device has a Utopia Level 2 slave ATM controller and an I2 C bus. (Ea/1,000: 1.2-GHz version, $146; 1-GHz version, $112 available now.)
