Dual 10-Gbit/s Ethernet physical layer device handles 10 GbE, OTN, POS

The PM5422 META 20G dual 10-Gbit/s carrier Ethernet physical layer device enables carrier Ethernet switch and router equipment to easily connect to emerging metro optical transport networks (ITU-T G.709 OTN). The single device supports carrier Ethernet, OTN, and SONET/SDH.

The IC integrates carrier Ethernet mapping and framing of 10-GbE LAN and WAN, and OTN mapping of IP services such as storage area networks (SAN) and video protocols while maintaining support for deployed technologies such as packet over SONET/SDH (POS). Universal 10G ports enable a single line card to service multiple applications. The chip handles timing synchronization via IEEE 1588, SyncE, and Ethernet Link OAM, It is available in a 27 x 27-mm FCBGA672 package. ($395 ea/high volume — samples available now.)
