The AAT2789 converter integrates a high-current 1.7-A buck converter with a low-current 800-mA buck converter to reduce board space by 25% compared to non-integrated designs. It consolidates power management functions targeting WLAN products, GPS devices, smart phones, portable media players, and other handheld devices.
Operating from a 2.7 to 5.5-V input range, the converter is designed for portable systems powered from a single-cell Li-ion battery or consumer equipment using a 3.3- or 5-V bus. The converters have a quiescent current of 37 and 42 µA typ. Available in a 3 x 4-mm 16-pin TDFN package, the device has an integrated soft-start to limit inrush current, as well as overtemperature and current-limit-protection circuits.
