Dual-core MCU targets automotive safety

The SPC56EL70 32-bit dual-core microcontroller is aimed at safety applications for car electronics and complies with ISO 26262. The 120 MHz Power Architecture MCU has 2 Mbytes of flash and 192 Kbytes of SRAM – both with ECC. The chips dual cores provide lock step mode and fail-safe protection.

The device has boot-time builtiIn self-test for memory and Logic (LBIST) triggered by hardware and boot-time self-test for the A/D and flash memory triggered by software. It also has a replicated safety enhanced watchdog. It has two 12-bit A/D convertors, three CAN and two LIN interfaces, and PWM peripherals for two BLDC motors. It costs $16.50 ea/500.
