Dual output controller integrates tracking

The ADP1850 synchronous dc/dc switching controller is configurable as a dual output or interleaved two-phase controller. It provides an input voltage range from 2.75 to 20 V and a dual-output up to 2 x 25 A or single interleaved-output up to 50 A. The controller provides tracking capability between supplies and includes independent enable and power-good functions. It suits powering multi-input voltage FPGA, DSP and ASIC devices.

The synchronous dc/dc controller includes a start-up linear regulator and a boot-strap diode for the high-side drive. It can be synchronized to an external clock to eliminate system beat frequencies between converters. The controller operates in current mode and uses valley-current sensing for noise immunity. It can be configured to operate in power-saving mode by skipping pulses and reducing switching losses. ($1.85 ea/1,000; evaluation board, $60 – available now.)
