Dual-output multiphase controller provides PoL intelligence
The UCD9220A dual-output multiphase synchronous buck controller supports various point-of-load configurations and meets power design requirements in telecom, server, data storage, and industrial test and measurement applications. Additionally, a Digital Power Designer GUI is provided to configure the device.
The buck controller manages two voltage rails and four phases, offers 1–mV closed-loop resolution, and has a three-pole three-zero compensator with nonlinear gain. It supports voltage tracking, margining, and sequencing, and offers current and temperature balancing for multiphase power stages.
The digital power control enables full-loop compensation, including nonlinear control, while the phase current balancing ensures uniform power dissipation. The voltage is set via the PMBus and the switching frequency is configurable to 2 MHz with 250-ps duty-cycle resolution. The device also provides sequencing, power-up/down timing, and fault response.
