The ConnectX ENt dual-port controller IC for 10GBase-T LAN-on-motherboard applications uses a PCIe 2.0 interface and supports leading virtualization acceleration features and I/O consolidation fabrics. It provides RJ-45 connectivity using an integrated MAC/PHY.
The chip supports Cat5e and Cat6 UTP cables for distances up to 55 m and Cat6a and Cat7 up to 100 m. It performs TCP/UDP/IP checksum offload. No external memory is required and the chip takes just 19 W typ. (Less than $200 in volume — available 1st qtr 2009.)
